Time to Claim

Churchill Downs goes into full swing tomorrow. One of the best meets to claim horses out of. Purses are high and competition is very good.  If you have any desire to claim, let us know. We are more than ready.

Next week as soon as the Breeders Cup is over the Breeding Stock Sales start and continue for two weeks. They sell anything from race horses to weanlings, mares and stallions. If you have any interest in anything, let us know.

Indiana Downs Meet Ends

The stable had four wins and three seconds the last week of the meet. We broke two 2 Year Old Maidens (IN A FOG and REDYORNOTHEREICOME first time starter). We ran second (WHISTLE STOP) in $150,000 Stake. We ran first (FLURRY) and Second (OBSOLETE) in the Miss Indiana Stakes going a mile and seventy. Overall a good week. Our total for the Indiana Meet was  34 wins, 24 seconds and 26 thirds winning $1,067,023 in purses. We were second in money earned and third in overall wins for the meet.

As of closing day we were in the top 100 trainers in North America for money won in 2017.

Yearling Sales

The last yearling sale of 2017 began today at Fasig Tipton. There is still time to get one or two if you are interested in having a two year old race horse for next spring. They are selling about 350 yearlings each day. You can read the catalog on line and watch the auction as well. Let me know if you want me to look at one or put in a bid for you.

Mister Pollard

As most of you know we lost MISTER POLLARD in a claiming race the other day.  He served us well. We planned his breeding, foaled him and raised him and enjoyed every moment. We raced for five years having 45 starts, 8 wins (5 were Stakes) 3 seconds and 8 thirds for earnings of $555, 693. He was ridden by 19 different riders with Jon J.K. Court riding him eight times.  Until 2 weeks ago he was the leading Indiana Money Earning Colt of all times being passed by Bucchero (not to shabby as he will run in the  Breeders Cup this November).

Mister Pollard had multiple grooms, hot walker’s and exercise people, and was touched by all of our assistants. We appreciate all of their patience and loving care.

We had some great partners in this colt and appreciate them more than they know. We are so grateful for people who truly enjoy this game and look forward to continuing the partnership with horses in the future.

In my opinion his best race was as a 3 year old, he won the $150,000 To Much Coffee Stake against older horses in a three way photo. I wasn’t sure of the win, but most of the partners were waiting at the winners circle. I stood back waiting for the photo. Thrilling!

Hope we can do it again.

CAKE POP update

CAKE POP (3 yr. old home bred colt out of Hey There Cupcake) ran in the Best of Ohio Bred Series yesterday. He previously won two Ohio Bred Stakes this year and ran a very game second, getting beat by only a length in a full field of 13. The Best of Ohio Endurance Stake was 1 1/4 mile on the dirt.

The winner of the race MO DONT NO (Uncle Mo) broke the track record (2:03.32) and will be Ohio horse of the year. We hopefully may get the 3 yr. old championship. This puts CAKE POPS earnings over $165,000 for this year and $243,000 lifetime.

We have a yearling filly out of HEY THERE CUPCAKE by Can The Man and we have a Paddy O Prado 2017 colt and she is bred back to Artie Schiller for 2018.
