As we said earlier, we took three horses to Saratoga and ran the last of the three today winning a Maiden Special New York Bred 3 and up going a mile and 1/8th on the Turf with the purse being $73,000. We sent the horse up there to Belmont the end of June and he walked off the truck with a fever, so his original race had to be scratched. Here we are six weeks later. The purse was more because it was Saratoga and we got the win! It was threatening to rain all morning and showered lightly right before the race. ICED OVER is a 3 yr. old NY homebred colt by Utopia out of the mare Glimmer Ice by Pine Bluff. He paid $9.00 and I thought he would pay more than that, but he dropped from 9/2 to 7/2 in the last minute. That takes a fair amount of money to do at Saratoga. This has been our first time back at Saratoga in seven years.
Last night I went to one of my favorite restaurants, a place called Winslow’s. It is about six miles north of town on Rt. 9. Great food. Moderately priced. Cash only.
Now, back to Indiana where we hope to have a big week as there are four stakes races Wednesday. We are in all of them.
