Three in one!

Today the stable had a great day, winning 3 out of the 5 starts. All three wins were at Hoosier Park. All three winners are home breds and raised on our farm.

U HUSH was the first winner of the day paying $11.40, $4.80, $3.20. This is one great gelding with loads of personality!. The girls have always wanted to keep him home on the farm and make him into a trail riding fellow.

The second winner of the day was ON Z RUN ($16.80, $5.80, $4.00) for owners/breeders Penny Lauer and Jerry Merritt. This was her third win this year, earning over $108,000. She is out of the mare MY LITTLE RUNAWAY who also had a two year old winner today for the same owners/breeders. SNEAKIN AWAY was the third win of the day paying $3.00, $2.40, $2.20.

I went to Keeneland to saddle the one horse that was running there, while I left the Hoosier horses in the hands of my assistant. Before I left the house I called Keeneland just to check on the simulcasting of Hoosier Park and today they told me they do not carry Hoosier. They take Hoosier every other day, but not today. This really aggravates me. I do not understand why they shut out simulcasting for one day of the week when they take it every other day they run. Had I known this earlier in the day, I would have had another assistant saddle at Keeneland and I would have been at Hoosier myself. Instead I had to settle for watching them on the computer and then dash out to Keeneland.

We are at 52 wins for the year.

Winner, Winner.

We had a winner tonight – our second win of the week.  Last week we had four winners!

Tonight, Glossed And Found for Penny Lauer and George Berry and yesterday, Trash to Treasure. Congratulations!

The worst part of this week is that Hoosier Park closes Sunday, so we’re going to run as many as we can there before they close.

This should bring our winning total to 49, which is the most wins we’ve ever had.  We’re just one away from January’s goal of 50 wins, so we’ll have to update that to 60 goal wins for the year.

There’s also still time to get one – 70 days of the year left.  The thing about claiming in Indiana – there’s no tax!  We’d be glad to have you!

Rockin’ Rockstar wins again and Keeneland sales are up!

The stable earnings just about reached the $1,150,000 mark last night with our 42nd win of the year. ROCKIN’ ROCKSTAR won the 6 furlong race with a $60,000 purse for a 4 other than or $80,000 claiming. We ran for the $80,000 as we were not eligible for 4 other than.
If you’ve ever heard of a horse for the course, ROCKIN’ ROCKSTAR is one of them as he has won 6 out of 9 starts at Presque Isle making this his 4th win of the year. The worst part is, the track is closing October 1st for the season. RR is the stable’s leading earner this year being right at $150,000 in earnings and 4 wins. It is kind of amazing how much better he runs on this surface. This is a Tapeta track put in by the former trainer Michael Dickinson , which is the best synthetic track I have run over. A big congratulations to owners Jack Danehy, Ralph Piercy, Terry Ward, Barry Ward, Ken Agronin, Steve Yamaguchi and Mary Ann Barth. This was the stable’s 8th win of 18 starts for the summer at Presque Isle, Erie, PA.
The Keeneland Yearling Sale is winding downs and in the last two days. The good news is, it is up well over 10% from last year and the bad news is yesterday the stock market had a gigantic drop. Go figure!  Do your part to support the game, buy one and bet on a few. The game is definitely not dead!
