The stable had a big year. We ended up 123rd in North America on the money won list with earnings at $1,577,901. We are wedged between Mark Frostad and Neil Drysdale. Total 363 starters, 61 Winners, 48 seconds, 50 thirds 17% winners. Anybody who knows me knows I don’t get to upset when we run 2nd in a maiden race, figuring we’ll come back and get the win next time.
We would like to thank all our owners who have entrusted their horses with us. If it wasn’t for you, this could not have been done. Our goal at the beginning of the year was a million dollars and 50 winners. Back in October when we hit that, we increased the goal to 60 winners and a million and one half in earnings.
Four horses won over $100,000. We had one stake winner (PRIZE WINNER) and seven different Two Year Old Winners. We had numerous multiple winners with three horses winning 4 races. The highest money earner of those three was ROCKIN’ ROCKSTAR for owners Jack Danehy, Ralph Piercy, Terry Ward, Barry Ward, Ken Agronin, Steve Yamaguchi and Mary Ann Barth who happened to win all his races at Presque Isle on the Tapeta. Definitely a horse for the course. MIZZEN MY MOMMA and PLAN AHEAD also won four races.
We had six different three time winners beginning with SHOT OF KELA for Dr. Ira Mersack and Penny Lauer, GOODNESSGRACIOUSME for Margaux Farm, Norb & Karen Paulin and Penny Lauer, ON Z RUN for Jerry Merritt and Penny Lauer, GHOST CHAPEL for owners Tim James and Penny Lauer, SOUTHERN OCEAN andTRASH TO TREASURE for Penny Lauer.
We also had seven two time winners.
Our goal each year is to always do better than the previous year. We would like to increase our number of wins as well as total earnings. Our goal is to win a million dollars in Indiana alone. We also hope to improve the quality of our stock. Remember, we have always said we are just one good horse away from the big time. Also remember to support your local race track.
Congrats Mike and thanks to you and Penny and all the barn help and equine leadership for a good 2011 and hopefully a successful 2012.
Great year Mr. Lauer. I know you will have an even better 2012.
Here is wishing you good racing and good luck.
